Adil Rashid ended on the losing side against Leicestershire despite taking his Twenty20 best bowling figures and almost winning it with the bat.

Rashid took 4-20 as the Foxes piled up 175-4, largely due to a stunning 62 not out from just 28 balls by James Taylor.

But, despite 52 from skipper Andrew Gale and 40 from Jonny Bairstow, Yorkshire got behind the clock.

And, although Rashid hit an unbeaten 21 to keep his side in it, the Tykes fell short on 169-8 to lose by six runs.

Leicestershire's 19-year-old paceman Nathan Buck did most of the damage in only his third match in the competition, removing Yorkshire's front three in his first two overs with the new ball.

But, although their run of three straight wins came to an end, the home side did well to keep the result in doubt right to the final ball, which Richard Pyrah needed to hit for six to tie the match.

To add insult to wounded home pride, it was delivered by former Yorkshire paceman Matthew Hoggard, Leicestershire's captain. And Pyrah lashed it high towards cow corner where it was calmly held by James Benning.

Earlier, Taylor had got his side out of trouble, hitting three fours and four sixes in his sparkling half century.

While Leicestershire climb a place to seventh in the table after only their fourth win, Yorkshire remain in second place in the North Group.

But they are now five points behind leaders Nottinghamshire as they take a break from Twenty20 action for the start of Monday's Roses Match return at Old Trafford (1100 BST).

Leicestershire are also in County Championship action this week against Worcestershire at New Road.

Leicestershire's next Twenty20 game is the short trip to Derbyshire on Friday evening (1730 BST), while Yorkshire are back in action the same night against Northants at Wantage Road (1850 BST).
