Hodge had a successful two-year spell with Leicestershire from 2003 |
Leicestershire have completed the re-signing of former Australia Test batsman Brad Hodge on a Twenty20 contract for next season. Chief executive David Smith welcomed the return of Hodge, 35, who had a two-year stay at Grace Road from 2003. "Brad played in the Twenty20 Cup winning team of 2004 and knows the club well," Smith said. "His Twenty20 record is outstanding. He is the world's leading run scorer, scoring over 2,300 runs in 73 matches." Hodge, Leicestershire's fifth signing of the winter, will play alongside his Victorian team-mate and Australian Test match all-rounder Andrew McDonald, who is the club's overseas player for the 2010 season. | 606: DEBATE |
The club has also signed ex-England bowler Matthew Hoggard, who will captain the club, as well as Will Jefferson and James Benning. Hodge picked up a Twenty20 winner's medal with the Foxes in 2004. And he has also played for Durham and Lancashire, with whom he spent three years after joining in 2005.
