Leicestershire snap up Jefferson

Leicestershire have signed former Nottinghamshire opener Will Jefferson.

The 30-year-old, who was released by Notts at the end of the season, has agreed a one-year deal - much to the delight of chief executive David Smith.

Smith told BBC Radio Leicester: "It hasn't quite worked at Notts but we think his best cricket's ahead of him."

Meanwhile slow left-arm bowler Claude Henderson has signed a new two-year contract but Boeta Dippenaar will not be returning for a third season.

The South African batsman is returning to his homeland as his wife is expecting their first child.

"We fully understand Boeta's decision," Smith added.

"We thank him for his contribution and wish the couple all the very best for the future."
