Jefferson has scored 12 first-class centuries since his debut in 2000 |
Nottinghamshire have released opening batsman Will Jefferson from his contract at Trent Bridge. The 29-year-old has struggled for form this season and has not played a first XI fixture since June. Jefferson, who is 6ft 10ins tall, joined Notts from Essex in 2007 and helped them to promotion from Division Two of the County Championship. He said: "Due to a combination of injuries and lack of consistency I feel it's time to move on." Jefferson added: "I'm very sad it hasn't worked out for me at Notts but it has been an honour to represent the club over the past three seasons." Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell said: "I always look to sign players who have performed consistently well against us and I genuinely thought that Will would kick on and do well here. "I'm amazed it hasn't worked out for him because he is a talented player and I have no doubt that he can continue playing first-class cricket."
