Nixon has future at Leics - Boon

Paul Nixon
Nixon has played one-day cricket for England but not since 2007.

Leicestershire head coach Tim Boon says wicketkeeper Paul Nixon has a big part to play at the county despite being left out for the game against Surrey.

Boon told BBC Radio Leicester that Nixon's replacement Tom New deserved his place.

"Our younger players are playing on merit and Tom has scored a lot of runs and been pushing for a slot," he said.

"[Nixon] has been brilliant about it, it's certainly not the end - he still has a big future with us."
