Du Plessis joined Lancs last summer on a Kolpak contract |
Lancashire's South African all-rounder Francois Du Plessis says the Twenty20 Cup is the Red Rose county's biggest target this season. Lancashire face Somerset in the last eight at Old Trafford on Tuesday. Du Plessis told BBC Radio Manchester: "All the money goes into Twenty20 so, as much as you want to win the Championship, Twenty20 is the big one. "In South Africa, everything was just Twenty20 because it's such a massive monetary thing," he added. Nevertheless, he acknowledged that the tradition of the County Championship - and Lancashire's long wait for victory in it - make that competition the leading one in may people's eyes. "People still say the Championship is the biggest and I appreciate and understand that," he added. "I've heard it quite a few times at Lancashire that it's been a while since there's been a bit of silverware in the cabinet but I've been quite fortunate. "Where I play in South Africa, we have won quite a few trophies over the last couple of years so hopefully my coming in might just change all of that for Lancs - hopefully I'll be the lucky charm."
