Moores was good for me - Anderson

James Anderson has credited new Lancashire coach Peter Moores with his good form for England in recent months.

The England paceman made a first start for Lancashire under his old international coach Moores in Sunday's FP Trophy win against Glamorgan.

And Anderson told BBC Radio Manchester: "He gave me a lot of confidence when I needed it in the last two years or so playing for England.

"It's not a coincidence he was coach when I came into that run of form."

Anderson added: "He has really helped my game.

"I think it's really exciting for Lancashire because I think he's one of the best coaches in the country.

"He's obviously got a proven record at county level and he did a great job, I thought, when he was with England."

The England bowler was a surprise inclusion at Old Trafford on Sunday, taking an important early wicket as Lancashire rapidly reduced their guests to 21-4 on the way to a comfortable 80-run opening Friends Provident Trophy win.

He is again included in Lancashire's 13-man squad for Tuesday's four-day County Championship trip to Hove to play Sussex.
