Lancashire fast bowler James Anderson has won praise from county coach Peter Moores after being named as one of Wisden's Five Cricketers of the Year.

Moores, who first had Anderson under his command in his days as England coach, said: "I'm delighted for Jimmy,

"No one works harder, which is a contributing factor to him becoming a regular member of England's first XI."

"Jimmy's swing bowling is perfect for English wickets but what he's done away from home is more impressive."

Anderson, 26, currently on tour in the West Indies has become an important part of the England bowling attack after a rollercoaster start to his international career.

Meanwhile, Lancashire have announced an increased profit for the 2008 season.

The county showed a pre-tax profit of £258,664, up over 40 per cent from the previous year's £184,364.

Lancashire chief executive Jim Cumbes said: "In these testing economic times, where hospitality bookings, sales and even membership are difficult to maintain, these results show that the club have a very strong business model across the board to steer us through these tough years."
