Kyle Hogg celebrates picking up the wicket of Mark Cosgrove
England's James Anderson was outshone by new-ball partner Kyle Hogg as Lancashire began the FP Trophy with an 80-run defeat of Glamorgan.
Chasing 242 to win, Glamorgan were soon up against it when three wickets for Hogg, aided by Anderson clean bowling Michael Powell, reduced them to 21-4.
Despite wicketkeeper Mark Wallace's 60, there was no way back for the Dragons.
And Lancashire cruised to a victory set up by half centuries from Tom Smith (66) and Francois du Plessis (66).
Lancashire had been given special permission to play Anderson at Old Trafford, even though he had not been included by the England and Wales Cricket Board on their player availability list released almost two weeks ago.
The only game Anderson was originally scheduled to play in was Tuesday's LV County Championship clash against Sussex at Hove, but he had a useful outing, taking 1-17 from six tidy overs.
For Liverpool-born Smith, 23, who scored his maiden first-class hundred against Durham UCCE last Monday, his latest encouraging knock was a good response to being asked to open the innings due to Mal Loye's absence with a torn calf.
It was his first one-day half-century for the county, topping the 52 he hit in the Pro40 while on loan at Leicestershire last season.
As for South African Kolpak batsman du Plessis, he recorded his fifth one-day fifty for Lancashire a little over 24 hours after arriving in England following a fine domestic season with the Nashua Titans in his homeland.
