Key played in one game at the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 |
Kent captain Rob Key thinks England have all the right elements to win the World Cup, despite losing the one-day series in Australia. Key has watched all the top international teams this winter during his work as a TV pundit. He told BBC Radio Kent: "England have got the best balance out of any team going into the World Cup. "That's how they won the World Twenty20 and I think they'll be the same in the World Cup in the 50-over competition." Key also believes the return of wicketkeeper Matt Prior to the England one-day squad could be the final part of the jigsaw. "I think in Indian conditions he could really thrive, so I'm really pleased that he's there," added the 31-year-old. | 606: DEBATE |
"Kevin Pietersen has to come good but I do like Matt Prior at the top of the order. "It's a big move from the selectors but I think it's the right move. It might not work, but hopefully there's a good chance of a return on that investment. "I think the wickets will be like Adelaide - a slow wicket so that's why they've picked Matt Prior for the conditions. "You need someone who can score 100 off 50 balls and Matt Prior can do that."
