Drop can benefit youngsters - Key

Rob Key of Kent
Key's side were relegated as Warwickshire beat Hampshire

Kent captain Rob Key says the club's relegation from Division One of the County Championship could benefit the development of their young players.

Key's side went down despite beating Yorkshire by four wickets in their final game of the season.

"It might help the young players to have a year in the Second Division and might bring them through a bit quicker.

"It's a lesser standard but it might get them some confidence and blood them in that form of the game."

Sam Northeast, 20, played all 16 championship matches for Kent in 2010, Matt Coles, also 20, played 12 games while Alex Blake, 21, featured eight times.
