Denly made his England debut in August against Ireland
Kent and England batsman Joe Denly has admitted he was disappointed with his performances at the recent ICC Champions Trophy.
The 23-year-old scored 67 runs in the four games he played in South Africa.
But it was enough to earn him a return to the country with the England one-day party this winter.
"Out of 10, I'd probably [give myself] four or three. I was a bit guilty of getting a few starts and not going on with it," Denly told BBC Radio Kent.
"We played against Australia and I think they gave us a good lesson of how to play in one-day cricket, especially [Ricky] Ponting.
They've not given any hints or vibes that I'm going to be in the Test shake-up

"It's a good experience and good to watch those sorts of players but I think overall I've definitely come away a better player."
The England selectors have opted for seven batsmen in the 16-man one-day squad and Denly knows he will have to improve if he is to keep his place.
"Strauss being captain - he opens the batting, obviously [Alastair] Cook's in there, and Jonathan Trott's going as well - and he opens in one-day cricket - so there's going to be a lot of competition which is good. I think it keeps everyone on their toes," said Denly.
He added: "Comments from Andy Flower (England coach) have all been good in regards to my performances so hopefully I can keep that spot and start off well in South Africa."
There had been speculation that Denly would get a place in the Test squad, but he was overlooked for the forthcoming tour.
"They've not given any hints or vibes that I'm going to be in the Test shake-up," he said.
"But obviously I'm in the one-day side so I think hopefully they're thinking of me in the Test department as well and this South Africa trip will be a good time to impress."
