Denly hit a season's best 123 in the championship against Essex. |
Kent batsman Joe Denly says he is determined to prove himself for the England Lions against Australia at Worcester starting on Wednesday. The 23-year-old opener had a disappointing tour of New Zealand last winter, but has hit form for Kent. He has made centuries in his last two County Championship games, the latest a season's best 123 against Essex. "I wasn't expecting to get this call," he told BBC Radio Kent. "But I've done pretty well at the start of this year." "I've got myself into some pretty good form," he added. Denly admitted: "New Zealand wasn't a great success and I was a bit disappointed. "So I'll obviously put that trip behind me now and I'm just looking forward to taking on the Australians."
