Willis helped the Spitfires win the Twenty20 Cup in 2007 |
Kent coach Simon Willis says his side will not be fazed by Durham's international players during their Twenty20 quarter-final clash. A win would take the Spitfires through to Finals Day of the competition for the third successive year. "We've played them a lot in recent years," Willis told BBC Radio Kent. "In the semi-finals (of the Friends Provident Trophy) they had 10 internationals but we came through that sand can draw a lot of confidence it." He added: "But it's about performing on the day in these 20 over games. One person can win you the game. | We want as big a crowd as possible to create an environment that's a little bit imposing for the opposition |
"We've got to focus on what we can control, and if we do that then we've got a good chance on getting through to finals day." Willis also admitted that home advantage on Monday would only play dividends if the crowd at St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury are more vocal they usual. "It has got a reputation of being a very quiet ground," he said. "That makes the job a lot easier for the opposing teams. "We go to somewhere like Chelmsford and the crowd can be quite an opposing factor and give Essex a little bit more of an advantage and that's what we're looking for. "We want as big a crowd as possible to create an environment that's a little bit imposing for the opposition." BBC Radio Kent will have commentary of Kent v Durham from 1730 BST on 774MW, DAB Digital radio and via the wesbsite - bbc.co.uk/kent
