Willis helped the Spitfires win the Twenty20 Cup in 2007 |
Kent coach Simon Willis says his players were disappointed to lose out on one-day practice ahead of their Twenty20 quarter-final on Monday. Their Pro40 Division Two game with Glamorgan in Cardiff was abandoned on Tuesday without a ball being bowled. "It would have been the same side we were looking to play on Monday (against Durham)," Willis told BBC Radio Kent. "We wanted to hone those one-day skills because we haven't played a one-day game for a few weeks." "It's been very much four-day orientated and we've missed a chance," added Willis. "We're back to sunny Canterbury and a few days off before a bit of practice ahead of the quarter-final." Willis admits that with a typical British summer, the players have to get used to the weather dictating their schedule. "With county cricket the way it is you just tend to move on, you don't tend to worry about what's just happened," he said. "You get used to only being able to control what you can control, and that's generally bat and ball. "There's a little bit of disappointment but there won't be too much lost sleep."
