Kemp struck 22 fours and three sixes in his 261-ball 183 |
Kent's South African all-rounder Justin Kemp says his season's best 183 has capped a long road to recovery. The 31-year-old struggled for much of last season with a back injury, but fell just five runs short of a career-best 188 in Kent's draw with Surrey. He told BBC Radio Kent: "It's been quite frustrating, knowing that you're playing well but you haven't kicked on. "I got a few 40s in the four-day games of late. It's just nice to get in there and spend lots of time at the crease." He added: "I've felt pretty good this season to be honest. "I haven't had much of an opportunity in Twenty20 because of the long batting line-up we have, and the guys have done pretty well at the top. "It's been a pretty long road, I did struggle last season. But I've been doing all the right things and I've got fit, and I don't have any problems with my back which has been fantastic."
