Northeast scored 87 on his County Championship debut in May |
Kent captain Rob Key says teenage batsman Sam Northeast is bound for success after the youngster was called up to the England Under-19 squad. "He looks a fine prospect and it's good to see," Key told BBC Radio Kent. "I'm sure he'll get what he deserves in cricket because he's a rare talent. I think people will see a lot of him." Northeast, 19, joins Key's fellow opener Joe Denly in the England set-up, after Denly appeared for England Lions against Australia last week. Former Harrow School prodigy Northeast scored 87 on his County Championship debut against Glamorgan this season. He has had further opportunities in the Kent side while former Test player Key was on Twenty20 duty with England and Denly was playing against Australia. The England Under-19s will play two Tests and five one-day internationals against Banglasdesh. The Test matches start on at Scarborough on 6 July and Derby on 12 July.
