Wicketkeeper Gary Wilson scored 32 against Italy |
Holders Ireland beat Italy by four wickets at Malahide on Tuesday to make it four wins from their four games in The European Championship. Italy made 158-6 off their 50 overs with Kevin O'Brien and Alex Cusack both taking two wickets. Ireland replied with 159-6 off 36.5 overs, Paul Stirling scoring 56 not out and Gary Wilson 32. Ireland play their final match against Scotland at Clontarf on Thursday and the winners will take the title. Scotland have also won their opening four games in the competition and they have a better run-out than the Irish so an abandonment would see the Scots claiming the title.
Scotland should be full of confidence after comfortably defeating the Netherlands on Tuesday. The Scots bowled out the Dutch for just 117 in 39.2 overs and then reached their target of 118 for the loss of four wickets in just 22.2 overs.
Ireland beat Norway by eight wickets in their opening fixture on Friday, defeated Denmark by five wickets on Saturday and then the Netherlands by seven wickets on Monday.
