Kyle McCallan will captain the Ireland side against Canada |
Trent Johnston has been named in the Ireland squad for the forthcoming Intercontinental Cup clash with Canada. Andrew White also returns, having missed the win over the Netherlands following the death of his mother. Kyle McCallan captains a 13-man panel as Ireland will be without their county players, except wicketkeeper Gary Wilson, for the 7-10 August fixture. The game, which takes place at Malahide, is a repeat of the 2007 final, which Ireland won by an innings. Ireland also play Canada in a one-day international on Tuesday 12 August at Clontarf, the only change being that Johnston will not feature as he has retired from the 50-over format of the game. Coach Phil Simmons has not yet decided whether to bring in a 13th player for that game. Ireland squad: Kyle MCCallan (captain), Andre Botha, Peter Connell, Alex Cusack, Thinus Fourie, Trent Johnston, Kevin O'Brien, Andrew Poynter, Paul Stirling, Reinhardt Strydom, Greg Thompson, Andrew White, Gary Wilson.
