Michael Lumb targets an England Twenty20 recall

Hampshire opener Michael Lumb has said he is hoping to use his time with Queensland to push for a recall to the England Twenty20 side.

The 30-year-old, who was part of the England team that won the World Twenty20, will play for the Bulls in Australia's domestic T20 competition.

"I want to return to the England fold and Queensland is an opportunity for that," Lumb told BBC Radio Solent.

"I've still got a lot to offer England, so I really hope to be picked."

Lumb has been out of action since suffering a broken foot in August, an injury which kept him out of England's summer Twenty20 internationals with Pakistan and the conclusion of Hampshire's successful FP t20 campaign.

"I've been on crutches but I came off them a month ago and I've been training hard," added the South Africa-born left-hander.

"I'm now back to full fitness and am looking forward to enjoying playing good cricket. It's a big tournament so I'm really excited and looking forward to it."

The Australian domestic Twenty20 competition runs from 30 December until 5 February but Lumb will be released to play in England's two T20 internationals against Australia in January if he is selected.
