Sidebottom has taken 79 wickets in 22 Tests for England

Hampshire have held initial talks with England seamer Ryan Sidebottom following his decision to leave Nottinghamshire.

The 32-year-old left-armer failed to agree a new contract at Trent Bridge, and Hampshire have publicly declared their interest.

Manager Giles White told BBC Radio Solent: "We've spoken to his agent and we'll see where it leads.

"There are a lot of counties in for him, but we're certainly interested."

Sidebottom has stated his desire for a three-year contract, while Nottinghamshire were only prepared to offer him a two-year deal.
