Giles White will lead Hampshire's cricketers to Cape Town |
Hampshire will spend pre-season in Cape Town ahead of the 2009 campaign. The squad leaves on 26 March and will play three fixtures, including one against the Dutch national side. Manager Giles White told BBC Radio Solent: "We see it as an important part of our preparations. We know the facilities we are going to." Dimitri Mascarenhas and Nic Pothas will miss out because of commitments to the Indian Twenty20 leagues, while Liam Dawson will be with the England Lions. | 606: DEBATE |
All-rounder Mascarenhas was the first English player to join the officially-sanctioned Indian Premier League (IPL) last year, playing for Shane Warne's Rajasthan Royals. Wicketkeeper Pothas played in the rival Indian Cricket League (ICL), which is not sanctioned by the International Cricket Council, for Delhi Giants.
