Southampton centre-back Jan-Paul Saeijs hit a stunning last-minute equaliser to earn them a point away at Watford.
The big defender slammed in a fabulous free-kick from 25 yards to net a draw for the relegation-threatened Saints.
Saeijs had put them ahead early on by heading in Ryan Smith's corner, before Aleksandrs Cauna's low shot squirmed under Kelvin Davis as Watford levelled.
They went ahead when Tamas Priskin headed home Jobi McAnuff's corner, only for Saeijs to pop up late on.
Watford boss Brendan Rodgers:
"We won't go down, there is no question about that.
"I'm looking upwards, and we want to finish as high as we can and get some momentum to take into next season.
"We weren't at our best, but I was pleased with our character. Earlier this season, we would have lost."
Southampton boss Mark Wotte:
"Footballers are human beings and they are affected (by the financial situation).
"We had a very honest meeting on Sunday, and I realised some of the players are really badly affected.
"Tonight they showed they can deal with it and stay focused, and our experienced players will help us through. No one doubts we can stay up."
