McCarter has represented Ireland at U13, U15 and U19 level

Gloucestershire have offered academy bowler Graeme McCarter his first full-time contract with the club for 2012.

The Ireland Under-19 international has been part of the academy since 2008 and will join up with the full squad in April for the new season.

"I am ecstatic and can't wait for the opportunity to play professionally," the 18-year-old told the club website.

"I worked really hard this summer and training was really intense but it has all been worth it now."
