Cheltenham festival a success - Gloucestershire chief
Gloucestershire have not won a four-day game at the festival since 2001
Gloucestershire's chief executive Tom Richardson has hailed the Cheltenham Cricket Festival a success, despite mixed fortunes on the field.
Gloucestershire won both their limited overs matches, including a dramatic last-over victory against Middlesex.
However they were beaten in both County Championship games.
Richardson told BBC Gloucestershire: "The crowds were back, the atmosphere was great and it is a brilliant venue for cricket."
He continued: "The numbers were up in terms of both the County Championship and one-day games and we had a lot of children coming in, so we're very pleased.
"The one-day games were terrific. We continue to worry hugely about the four day game and we really should not have lost that final game [against Worcestershire]."
Gloucestershire's record at the festival in the longer form of the game is woeful - they have not won a game there since 2001.
