Gidman hit 45 against Derbyshire |
Gloucestershire captain Alex Gidman says that his side had no idea they had won their CB 40 match with Derbyshire until they saw a TV screen. The game at Derby was twice interrupted by rain and eventually the visiting side won by one run under the Duckworth-Lewis system. "It's a weird old system and something I'll never get used to," Gidman said. "I was unaware it goes down to balls, because there were three balls left in the last over, I thought we'd lost." The game finished halfway through an over with two runs hit off the last ball by Chris Taylor proving enough for the win. Gidman praised a "great all-round" performance from his team and in particular their "aggressive" bowling which pegged Derbyshire back to 225-8. Gloucestershire now sit second in the table, on equal points but behind Yorkshire.
