Former England wicketkeeper Jack Russell has joined the executive board at Gloucestershire County Cricket Club.

The 46-year-old retired from the game in 2004 after 23 seasons at Nevil Road and has recently been working as their team mentor.

"I am honoured to have the opportunity to be a board member. I am looking forward to seeing how the club operates at that level," said Russell.

"If I can have a positive effect in any way I will be delighted."

County chairman Rex Body added: "I am delighted that Jack is joining the executive board. He is exactly the type of person we want."
