Gemaal Hussain is keen to make the most of his big chance at Nevil Road |
Gloucestershire have added to their squad by bringing in fast bowler Gemaal Hussain on a two-year contract. London-born Hussain, 25, has so far made his name in league cricket after failing to make the breakthrough at five different counties. He has played in the Second XI Championship for Sussex, Essex, Nottinghamshire, Surrey and, most recently, Worcestershire. "I'm very grateful Gloucestershire have given me this opportunity," he said. "It is something I have been working towards very hard for the last four or five years. "I am very keen to embrace the challenge and perform to the best of my ability." Hussain played for Bradford/Leeds UCCE in 2003 while studying Sports Science at Leeds University. He also played club cricket in the Bradford League for four years. And he spent last summer playing for Old Hill in the Birmingham League. He was invited for a trial at Bristol after being spotted by Gloucestershire's Jack Russell during the winter. "We are delighted to have discovered Gemaal." said Russell. "We are looking forward to seeing him develop into a top class bowler with us." So far this season, Hussain has been playing in the Derbyshire Premier League for Alvaston and Boulton.
