All-rounder James Franklin starred as Gloucestershire secured an unlikely three-wicket win over Yorkshire to book an FP Trophy quarter-final place.

The New Zealander came to the crease with his side struggling at 107-6 in reply to Yorkshire's 217-9.

But he hit an unbeaten 51 and shared a seventh-wicket stand of 106 with Steve Adshead (56) to see them home.

He had earlier taken 3-38 as Anthony McGrath and Richard Pyrah both hit 67 to help Yorkshire recover from 49-5.

It was Pyrah's highest one-day score for the Tykes and proved crucial to them setting Gloucestershire any sort of target.

Even defending 217 seemed enough when David Wainwright ripped through the home side's middle order by removing Chris Taylor, Alex Gidman and Will Porterfield as Gloucestershire slumped from 102-3 to 107-6.

But Franklin and Adshead steadied the ship before embarking on a stand which took John Bracewell's side to the brink of victory, which was finally sealed when Franklin hit Steven Patterson to the boundary with four balls left.

It secured Gloucestershire's fifth-straight win in the competition and means they are guaranteed a place in the last eight.
