Herschelle Gibbs
Gibbs is still awaiting his batting debut for Glamorgan

Glamorgan chief executive Mike Fatkin says he hopes his side can take out their Twenty20 Cup frustrations against Somerset in Cardiff on Friday.

A strong start to the competition against Warwickshire ended in a draw after rain, denying Herschelle Gibbs the chance to make his batting debut.

"Hopefully Herschelle can come in and smash a few on Friday, the forecast is a lot better," Fatkin told BBC Sport.

"Wednesday was frustrating but you can't control it, sales remain good."

606: DEBATE
Glamorgan manager Matthew Maynard says Gibbs can relaunch Glamorgan's season.

"Gibbs has come in at 100mph," Maynard told BBC Sport Wales.

"He's given the guys a lot of energy in practice and has fitted in, they're all looking forward to playing with him."

South Africa batsman Gibbs, 34, takes Jason Gillespie's place as Glamorgan's overseas player for the Twenty20 and is set to bat at number three.

Veteran Robert Croft is back, having been left out of the Friends Provident Trophy campaign, and will open the batting with captain David Hemp.

"They can be explosive at the top of the order, but the most important thing is the experience they bring to the team," said Maynard.

With Glamorgan finishing bottom of their Friends Provident group and languishing one from bottom in the LV County Championship Division Two, the Twenty20's arrival has been welcomed warmly at the Swalec Stadium.

"This has come at a good time for us and we can't wait," said Maynard.

"We've had three poor Championship games, now we have to clear our mind and take the opportunity to start on a fresh page."
