Elliott will miss the rest of Glamorgan's season |
Glamorgan opener Matthew Elliott will miss the rest of the season following his knee cartilage operation. The ex-Australia left-hander, who averages just under 50 in first-class cricket, will be out for 10-12 weeks, although long-term prognosis is good.
"After three months it'll be good as new, that's good for South Australia, at least," said a disappointed Elliott.
Elliott suffered the injury during training before Glamorgan's match at Trent Bridge against Nottinghamshire.
Glamorgan are expected to decide this week whether to recruit another overseas player for their disastrous campaign, which has seen them lose eight out of nine Championship games.
Their other overseas star, Sourav Ganguly, is due to leave Wales at the end of July.
His stay may be extended if India fail to get his six-match international suspension reduced or overturned.
