Wheater has represented England at Under-19 level |
Young wicketkeeper Adam Wheater will stay with Essex until at least 2012 after signing a new deal. The 19-year-old, who made his debut in 2008, will act as backup for first-choice keeper James Foster. "I know I have a long way to go to earn a regular place in the team but I am very much looking forward to the challenge," Wheater said. "I had a taster of what it is like to be in the first XI in 2009 and that is what I want to work towards."
