Solomon Taiwo signed for Cardiff from Dagenham and Redbridge for 250,000
Solomon Taiwo's loan move from Cardiff City to League One Colchester United has been put on hold due to their central midfield injury crisis.
The 24-year-old impressed as a substitute in Cardiff's FA Cup third round 1-1 draw at Bristol City when he replaced injury victim Gavin Rae.
Scottish midfielder Rae's hamstring injury will keep him out for 10 days while Stephen McPhail is also injured.
Wales international midfielder Joe Ledley is playing despite a hip injury.
Teenager Aaron Wildig made his Cardiff first in the draw at Ashton Gate and the 19-year-old's impressive performance is another option for Bluebirds boss Dave Jones in his Championship play-off push.
Striker Jay Bothroyd (virus) and winger Chris Burke (rib) - who hobbled off in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Blackpool - are doubts for Saturday's visit to Scunthorpe United.
Captain and central defender Mark Hudson, full-back Kevin McNaughton and goal-scoring striker Michael Chopra also played against Bristol City despite stomach upsets.
But Rae, who had been playing with a cast to protect his broken hand, has now dealt Jones with another injury blow - and he was replaced at Ashton Gate by Taiwo.
"He has pulled his hamstring," said Jones.
"He felt his leg slip but it is just another thing to contend with."
Nigerian Taiwo had struggled at the Championship club since his £250,000 August move from League Two Dagenham and Redbridge.
