Essex coach Paul Grayson has claimed he is more than happy with his bowling line-up for next season.
The club have recently added batsmen John Maunders and Matt Walker to their 2009 squad, but Grayson said adding to the bowling attack was not a priority.
"David Masters turned out to be a good signing, Chris Wright really developed and Graham Napier forced his way back into the side," he told BBC Essex.
"Maurice Chambers did nicely, so on the bowling front I think we're going OK."
Grayson added: "I think there were only three occasions where we went for more than 400 runs in our first innings.
"People may say 'why don't you go and try to find fast bowlers ?', but they are pretty few and far between and the ones that do become available are very expensive."
After success in the one-day format in 2008, Grayson is now focusing on strengthening Essex's batting ahead of a push for promotion from Division Two of the County Championship.
"It's something we want to address, we've been a little short of runs in the last couple of years, with the retirements of Ronnie [Irani] and Andy Flower," he explained.
"So these two guys [Maunders and Walker] will add lots of competition for places, added to a few youngsters that are coming in as well."
