All-rounder Park joins Derbyshire

Garry Park
Right-hander Park is Derbyshire's first signing for 2009

Durham all-rounder Garry Park has signed a two-year deal with Derbyshire - the county's first signing for 2009.

Park, a right-handed batsman and seam bowler, is South African-born but English-qualified.

Head of cricket John Morris said: "I'm delighted to add to our squad a player who was wanted by his club but wants to play first team cricket".

The 25-year-old played 18 times for Durham but turned down a new contract with the county champions.

An accomplished fielder, he has also been regularly used by England as a substitute fielder in home Test matches in recent years.
