South African fast bowler Charl Langeveldt has agreed terms with Derbyshire to join for the majority of their Twenty20 campaign. The 35-year-old played for the county in 2008 taking 55 first-class wickets and 79 in all competitions. His proposed move will be finalised when signed off by Cricket South Africa and he is issued with a work permit. Once completed Langeveldt will be the the club's second overseas player alongside countryman Loots Bosman. Captain Chris Rogers would then take a break, after two years of non-stop cricket, and Greg Smith would take over the role of skipper for the competition. Langeveldt recently enjoyed a successful World Twenty20 tournament taking 11 wickets at an economy rate of 6.50. His overall Twenty20 international figures are 17 wickets at average of 14.17 and an economy rate of 7.30.
