Smith and Park were Championship ever-presents for Derbyshire this year |
Greg Smith and Garry Park have signed new two-year contracts with Derbyshire after impressive 2009 seasons. All-rounder Smith, 26, who joined Derbyshire in 2006, received his county cap during the Pro40 clash with Glamorgan on Sunday. He scored 977 first-class runs at 42.47, making one century and six 50s, and took 32 wickets at 34.31. Park, also 26, made more that 1,000 runs in his first season at the County Ground after signing from Durham. He hit two Championship centuries and eight half-centuries, with his highest score an unbeaten 178 against Division Two champions Kent. Park averaged 33 in one-day cricket and was Derbyshire's top wicket-taker in their Twenty20 Cup campaign. Head of cricket John Morris said: "Both Greg and Garry have been an integral part of the team in all forms of cricket this season. "They are talented young cricketers with time very much on their side and I am delighted they have committed to Derbyshire for the next two years."
