Rogers topped Derbyshire's first-class averages last season with 57.16 |
Derbyshire captain Chris Rogers has arrived in the UK to resume his career with the club after finally being granted a visa. The 31-year-old Australian was forced to miss the start of the season after his initial application was rejected. Rogers was appointed skipper last season, during which he scored 1,372 first-class runs at an average of 57. And Derbyshire chief executive Keith Loring said: "We are delighted that Chris is now with us." He added: "It has been a long and frustrating exercise in helping Chris obtain his visa, after it had originally been turned down on a technicality but that is behind us now." Rogers maintained his excellent form over the winter in Australian domestic cricket, hitting five centuries and averaging 74. And he is joining a Derbyshire team in good spirits after a positive start to the summer. They currently lead Championship Division Two by four points after three matches.
