COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO, Swalec Stadium: CLOSE OF PLAY, DAY THREE: Glamorgan 166 v Derbyshire 234-8 Derbys 4pts, Glamorgan 2pts Match scorecard
Glamorgan's bid to seal promotion to Division One of the County Championship was held up by Derbyshire resistance on day three at Cardiff.
After day two was lost to the weather, the hosts added 46 on the third morning to be bowled out for 166.
But although James Harris and Dean Cosker both took three wickets, Derbyshire reached the close on 234-8, Wes Durston top-scoring with 46.
Glamorgan go into the final day knowing only victory will guarantee promotion.
A draw will be enough to see them up if Worcestershire fail to beat Sussex.
Glamorgan had resumed on 120-6 and saw Jim Allenby pass 50 for the 11th time this season as he and James Harris (36) put on 88 for the seventh wicket.
But their stand was ended when Allenby was bowled by a full-length Jon Clare delivery before left-arm spinner Robin Peterson finished things off by bowling Robert Croft, trapping Harris leg before and having Huw Waters caught at slip by Chris Rogers to pass 50 first-class wickets for the season.
Harris struck with the fifth ball of the Derbyshire innings when he trapped Wayne Madsen lbw, but Glamorgan had to wait until after lunch for a second wicket when Chesney Hughes was bowled by Jamie Dalrymple to leave Derbyshire 42-2.
Croft ended a third-wicket stand of 56 between Chris Rogers and Durston by trapping Rogers lbw, before Harris returned to make Durston his 60th wicket of the summer.
Cosker had Dan Redfern caught down the leg-side by wicketkeeper Mark Wallace to leave Derbyshire 126-5 and then had Peterson caught at slip to give Glamorgan their second bowling point and rule Leicestershire out of the promotion race.
Glamorgan were then frustrated by a stand of 45 for the seventh wicket between Greg Smith and Clare which was ended when Harris had the Derbyshire captain caught at point.
Clare's resistance was ended by Cosker but Steffan Jones and Tom Poynton put on 45 for the ninth wicket before the close to further frustrate the hosts and ensure their promotion bid goes to the final day of the season.
