Worcestershire fell to a 241-run defeat to Glamorgan at Colwyn Bay, prompting Vikram Solanki to resign as captain.

The result puts the Welsh county top of Division Two, a point clear of Sussex who drew with Surrey.

Glamorgan added 42 to their overnight score before declaring on 397-8 as Ben Wright ended unbeaten on 121.

The visitors slumped from 128-3 to 175 all out, as David Harrison (3-48) took three wickets in 12 balls and Dean Cosker finished with figures of 4-27.

Worcestershire were 63-1 at lunch, losing just David Wheeldon run out for 26, and there was no hint of what was to follow.

Jim Allenby (2-36) began Worcestershire's demise by dismissing Solanki and Moeen Ali with consecutive balls.

Daryl Mitchell (45), who had scored consecutive centuries in his previous three innings, raised hopes of saving the game but once he became Harrison's first victim, Worcestershire lost their last seven wickets for 47 runs.

Alexei Kervezee also fell for 45 in Harrison's next over, with James Cameron becoming Harrison's third wicket.

At the other end , Cosker struck twice with consecutive balls. First, Ben Cox was sharply caught by Dalrymple at slip and then Richard Jones went leg before.

Cosker also got the final two wickets as Glamorgan wrapped up the win 20 minutes after tea.

At the start of the day, Glamorgan decided to bat on for a further seven overs, adding 42 runs, as Ben Wright brought up his third Championship century by pulling a Shakib Al Hasan full toss for six over midwicket.
