Norfolk player-coach Chris Brown was happy to snatch a draw after Cumberland failed to win on the final ball in their Minor Counties encounter. Needing one run to win, Cumberland's Graham Dawson was run out at the end of a tense match. Brown told BBC Radio Norfolk: "That was a fantastic game of cricket. "It was going one way for the last 12 to 13 overs but we clawed it back and had a little bit of luck and it was even Stevens." There was little to separate the sides after the first innings with Norfolk totalling 382 and the hosts replying with a score of 394. | He's in good form for his club and he continues to churn runs out Norfolk spinner Chris Brown on captain Carl Rogers |
Great Witchingham batsman and county captain Carl Rogers led the way in Norfolk's second innings, contributing 82 not out to their total of 267. "He's played well all year to be honest," said Brown. "He's in good form for his club and he continues to churn runs out." Cumberland posted 255 in reply leaving both teams on 649. Norfolk, who sit fourth in the Minor Counties Eastern Division, are next in action against Northumberland on 18 July.
