COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE, Scarborough: Warwickshire 320 & 313 drew with Yorkshire 328 & 30-0 (Warwicks 10pts, Yorks 10pts)
Frost's 48 helped push Warwickshire towards safety on day four |
Yorkshire and Warwickshire did nothing to allay their relegation fears with a predictable draw at Scarborough. The Bears began the final day on 111-2 and Jim Troughton (40) and Tony Frost (48) had helped them to 197-4 by lunch. The visitors were eventually dismissed for 313, as opening batsman Joe Sayers (3-20) claimed his maiden first-class wickets with his occasional off-spin. Yorkshire needed a highly unlikely 306 from a minimum of 24 overs to win and had reached 30-0 by the close of play. The only milestone reached before the draw was agreed was by Jacques Rudolph, who passed 1,000 Championship runs for the season. Both sides have won just one of their 13 Championship games, and will need more favourable outcomes from their remaining three matches.
