Oxfordshire caused a shock in the Minor Counties Western Division when they beat leaders Cornwall by 116-runs. After posting 351-8 dec in their first innings, Oxfordshire dismissed the visitors for 287. Another solid batting display in the second innings saw them declare on 278-7, leaving Cornwall chasing 343. Despite a ton from Dan Davis, Oxfordshire dismissed the league leaders for 226 with McMahon (4-82) and Kaufman (3-32) the pick of the bowlers. Oxfordshire went into the match sitting bottom of the league table and captain Ian Hawtin is hopeful that the team will be able to build on the surprise victory. He told BBC Oxford: "It's a pleasing win and it gets our season back on track because we have a good team and we have been a little bit unlucky with availability in previous games." Having recovered from 28-4 in the first innings, Hawtin said the win was even more satisfying. "To recover from that and win by such a margin is very pleasing. We do our best when we actually play as a team rather than as a load of individuals and I think that showed in this game," he said.
