Royals batsman Gareth Batty picks up some runs watched by Gloucestershire wicketkeeper Steve Adshead |
A superb spell from Daryl Mitchell inspired Worcestershire to a 59-run win over Gloucestershire at Bristol. The seamer took 4-11 as Glos were bowled out for a mere 93 in 16 overs to stay rooted to the bottom of the table. Worcs chose to bat but were soon 10-2 after Vikram Solanki found extra cover and Graeme Hick lost his middle stump. Stephen Moore hit 41 off 24 balls for the Royals to share a key third-wicket partnership of 75 with Ben Smith to help the visitors post 152-8. Moore blasted three sixes in an over from left-arm spinner Ian Fisher, and also added three fours in an entertaining innings. The Glos reply got off to the worst possible start as Jackson Thompson was run out in the first over, recording his third successive duck in the competition. Mark Hardinges struck a few lusty blows, but he was run out at the non-striker's end and the home innings quickly folded.
