Twenty20 Cup, New Road: Worcestershire 163-6 bt Northamptonshire 160-7 by four wickets Match scorecard
Worcestershire delayed Northamptonshire's move into the quarter-finals of the Twenty20 Cup with a four-wicket victory at New Road. The Royals won with seven balls to spare to end a grim run of five Twenty20 defeats on the trot. Man of the match Stephen Moore laid the foundations with 51 before Moeen Ali (26 not out) and Steve Davies (23 not out) saw them home. After winning the toss Northants made 160-7, Andrew Hall contributing 58.
Worcestershire director of cricket Steve Rhodes was again critical of the amount of Kolpak players in the Northants side to BBC Hereford and Worcester. "We had 11 England qualified players on the field, against what, five or six? "I was really pleased as they have recruited a lot of overseas players, and to beat them in such a vein at New Road is a great achievement."
