Devon slumped to a disappointing 26-run defeat by Hertfordshire in Sunday's MCCA Trophy quarter-final at Exmouth. Hertfordshire batted first, being bowled out for 192 in 48.4 overs after half-centuries from Jamie Hewitt (50)and Nick Walker (53). But, in reply, Devon's batsmen failed to function, Josh Bess's 33 proving their top score as they were all out for 166 in 39.3 overs. Will Rudge was the hero with the ball for Hertfordshire, taking 4-38. Hertfordshire will now play Shropshire in the semi-final of the Trophy at Welwyn Garden City CC on Sunday, 11 July.
