Berkshire target success in Minor Counties Championship
Crowe was part of Berkshire's title-winning team in 2008
Berkshire player-coach Carl Crowe believes his team is well positioned to repeat its championship success of two seasons ago.
The former Leicestershire off-spinner is coaching for the first time this season and has target a title bid.
"At the start of the season we were looking to the three-dayers more," he told BBC Berkshire.
"If we get on a roll like we did two years ago then there's no reason we can't challenge for the trophy."
Crowe says he is enjoying his new role.
"The coach's role in minor county cricket is not as prevalent as it would be in a major county," he said.
"I see it as the captain's side and as the coach you are there offering more support.
"As far as a nurturing role goes, I was talking to the manager and captain about players around the county, opportunities to bring players in and who are the players we look at.
"We look at the Home Counties Premier League and at who's doing well. If we are short of a batter or a bowler who is doing well that can come in.
"Hopefully it's a younger player who can use Minor Counties cricket as a stepping-stone to get into major county cricket later on."
Berkshire versus Dorset starts at 1100 BST on Sunday, 6 June at Falkland Cricket Club in Newbury.
