Staffordshire's Knockout Cup hopes were ended on Sunday after they lost to Shropshire at Audley. The 2009 runners-up needed to win their final group game to progress in the competition but lost by five wickets. Set a target of 191 to win, Shropshire won with eight overs to spare, leaving Staffordshire, who lost to Cheshire in their previous match, well beaten. Teenager Ben McGuire was Staffordshire's top scorer, hitting 45 before being dismissed lbw. Meanwhile, Staffordshire's women cruised to victory in their one-day championship game against Hampshire at Penkridge. Staffs and England all-rounder Danielle Wyatt hit a century as they won by seven wickets.
