Cornwall overcome Devon in MCCA Trophy

Cornwall beat Devon by 39 runs in round two of the MCCA 50-over Trophy in Redruth on Sunday.

Batting first, Cornwall lost David Roberts for a duck in the first over but managed to recover to post a total of 243-7 in their 50 overs.

Gary Thomas (56) and Chris Hunkin (51) were the top scorers for the home side.

Devon lost both of their openers for 0 in reply, and stumbled to 204 all out in 44.4 overs, with Rob Holman's 55 their highest score.

Cornwall's bowlers shared the wickets, with two for both Alex Smeeth and Kelvin Snell, while Sam Hockin, Rob Harrison, Dan Davis and Hunkin all took one each.

The win gives Cornwall two points in Group Two of the MCCA Trophy.
