Norfolk testing new one-day blood

Cricket

Norfolk's one-day side begin the season against Northumberland in the MCCA Trophy at Manor Park on Sunday.

Ben Patston, a former Northampton Saints rugby player, makes his one-day debut partnering captain Carl Rogers at the top of the batting order.

Jonathan Trower makes his debut in the middle-order having switched from Lincolnshire over the winter.

Wicketkeeper Stephen Gray's form in pre-season matches has seen him promoted to third in the batting order.

The main Norfolk bowling threat looks likely to come from their spinners, with Chris Brown and George Walker spearheading the attack.

Norfolk will enter the match with just two seamers, Michael Eccles and left-armer Martin Addison sharing new-ball duties.

Norfolk : Rogers (capt), Patston, Gray (wkt), Ward, Trower, Borrett, Spellman, Walker, Brown, Eccles, Addison.
